>>2606132If you upload an observation with no id or as "life" well-meaning people with little knowledge will rush to id it at the kingdom level. Do your research and add a more specific label if this really bothers you. When you id it more specifically it will adjust to your id. Another thing that sometimes happens is you'll provide a fairly specific id and someone will provide another one that is so different the website will automatically label your observation as the "lowest common denominator" of the two labels (eg you label something a wolf, someone else says it's a lion, iNaturalist adjusts it to Carnivora or whatever). Remember you can always leave comments asking people about their thinking behind an id. It can also be helpful to look at their profile and see if they're an expert or an (again, usually well-meaning) idiot.
