they did that with their tundras (went from 8 to 6) in 2022 and had to do a massive recall on the turbo 6s
toyota will tell you that a turbo'd 4 will give you the same or better performance as a naturally aspirated 6 cylinder, but what they dont say is that the turbo 4 is a more complicated engine running at higher RPMs and pressure, and longevity and reliability takes a hit. but i guess it also gets 2mpg more too, so worth the trade off? not imo
