I really enjoyed Deep Survival and Down the Great Unknown, both have some awesome accounts of survival against the odds. Down the Great is really interesting too if you're unfamiliar with the history around Glen Canyon, man JW Powell makes some awesome observations about that place, too bad it's fucked now.
Desert Solitaire is up the same tree as Sand County Almanac, but a bit less "Wisdom from the greatest conservationist of all time" and a bit more "polemic from a guy who was a ranger for 2 years". Abbey is still solid and has fantastic prose, but there's a few points he makes that are often contradictory or a tad snooty.
Eitherway, I liked almost all the books from the outdoor section of my library here, and recommend most. The 1970's GI survival guide is an easy skip.
