Another fucking homeless thread

Going to be homeless.
>Have no car
>Have no friends
>Have no family

I just need a means to sleep in the woods away from others. I need a hammock, possibly an underquilt, and a sleeping bag that will get me through the cold nights.

I apologize for shitting up your board and have noticed that these threads are becoming more and more prevalent.

Help me guys, internet's going to be cut off very soon.

Around here, not many of those places. I'll have to hitch-hike up a ways north to a small town and find someplace relatively well-hidden in the outskirts.

From here on out my internet may be cut off, so a few recommendations would be great. I might be able to scrape together a few hundred dollars, absolutely pathetic, I know.
Will have to go to library of internet cafe tomorrow, also have to check out thrift stores for /out/ gear.
I am sad.

Learn how to see. There is places out here that only few people can see.

There is abandoned homes with a shed, and sometime even running water and a power plug. There is hidden rooms in abandoned buildings.
There is forgotten caves with windows that you can open from the outside. There is roofs where you won't be seen.

Finding this kind of place is a skill, no one is born with this ability.

as another anon said learn to find secret places.

get cheap gear from thrift stores and milsurp.

learn to "dumpster dive" (we don't call it that in the UK) use your nose when you find food, if it smells then throw it away, dry foods and sweet foods are good

if you are skilled and camp near woodland you can make snares easily, if you own a bow or slingshot you can hunt small game with those.

get a book on wild edibles and medicinals.

you won't live like a mountain man but you can get a lot of your food from the forest

Hammock? Find a used one, maybe military surplus has some. For a cheap new one? Grand trunk ultralight, about $20.

Underquilt is not a maybe, it's a must. Get a poncho liner from a military surplus store, they're cheap. They're also called a woobie.Easy to make an underquilt from there, lots of designs online.

You need weather protection too, again military surplus can have a tarp.

Get some rope. Strong stuff. You can hang the tarp and hammock with it.

Food and water will be tough. Don't drink water that isn't boiled. Food is not plentiful inna woods if you're not a skilled hunter/masterforager.

Probably not. DD sells the camping hammock, it's robust. It can be fully closed around you if it gets really windy.

With every hammock you need some kind of insulation from below because a sleeping bag is compressed so much that it doesn't insulate anymore.

If it's not windy the camping hammock can be doulbe layered. You put a cheap closed cell foam mat between the layers and are warm from below. If you close it around you you will slip on the mat, but it will still insulate you.

The DD camping hammock can be bought for about 40 Euros, so i guess it's about 30 britbongs.

I think I can put in a bit more than 20 dollars on a hammock. Going to need some sleeping bag recommendations too, as I really need to prioritize getting those first.
It shouldn't be something I should cheap out too much on, but I also don't want to buy trademarks and marketing.

Sleeping bags are easy. There is a standard metric to measure their temperature rating.

A 30 Euro sleeping bag rated for 0°C is as good as a 300 Euro bag rated for 0°C.

The one for 30 Euros will be heavier, maybe even have lower quality, but it will do the job.

There are plenty of 0°C sleeping bags on Amazon to pick from.

look for dumpsters; pizza shops, particularly Little Caesars they throw out warm pizzas every few hours because they have pre-made ones they need fresh for customers, and Chinese restaurants and bakeries throw a lot of good stuff out too, college towns and dorms especially are throwing a lot of stuff as it is move in/out time

I once had the same idea, but unless you have some skills the modern world needs, that's not going to happen, you will end up working for someone until you do, or stealing or dying, look into WOOFing its fun and you learn a lot

don't spend too much shit on badass woodsman gear you're going to regret you bought it later when you want food or a bus ticket and you're broke and the pawn shop wants to give you five bucks for all of it
