Give me some tips on how to survive out /innawoods/, because I want to leave civilization behind. I know it's a bad idea, but I want to do it anyway.

I'd say get a small piece of land, put a small cabin on it, trick it out with solar panels, and live out there for a bit.

We have this exact same thread everyday.

Everyone here has the same desire as you to get out into the wilderness and live away from civilisation for a while.

But running off into the wild unprepared and with high expectations will just end up with you dead or coming home after 2 days cold and wet.

Get some gear, start taking camping trips, build up your experience, get fit, and go from there.

You're gonna need to do some serious training if you expect to live in the woods. Alone. For the rest of your probably short life (Again, three days max)

Lurk more, practice survival skills. And I don't mean at home or in the backyard. Stay in the woods around your town. Camp there. Jot down your mistakes and keep on learning. It's gonna take you months on months on months to get the shit figured out.

This. I've been learning /out/ skills for 25 years, and I'm sure I don't know everything. Currently studying mycology to widen my foraging knowledge. But as much as I despise the parasitism of consumerist society, I recognize that I can't survive being completely on my own. If were to wander off into the woods right now, I'd still find something I need to look up online, and something (probably butter) that I can't forage or grow. Not to mention that we all have a pretty high reliance on synthetic clothing; you can't put very many miles on a pair of moccasins.

What OP should do, is find a skilled outdoorsman who can be nearby in case of emergencies, who can share skills without getting in each other's way constantly. The /out/ version of a rural neighbor. Or take on an /out/ apprenticeship if he still has a lot to learn.

First things first, you need to get fit, and find a competent friend to go innawoods with. You're not going to survive long on your own unless you're really, really fucking good at it, and even then it's dangerous. For skills necessary to survive? Lurk, read books on survival, and practice these skills. Don't go out to live in the wilderness if you don't know what you're doing. Learn how to build shelter, get water, food, learn first aid, etc etc. Once you are confident in all these skills, and have a friend who also knows what they're doing, go innawoods and see how long you last. Make sure you have a radio or something for communication with the outside world too, because even if you're both total experts, you could still fuck up badly and need help.
