>>4414671>A decade of decent lensesI'm running into the same issue with Pentax. Sigma/Tamron had zero development on anything other than Canon/Nikon/Sony E after the late 00s.
All their lenses are straight up film-era stuff from the 90s. Very difficult to get anything with Tamron USD/Sigma HSM, and the older Sigma A Mount stuff has a rep of stripping gears. And all their stuff has bad purple fringing, distortion, etc. Its just optically not good. Even brand new they were always marketed for people who couldn't afford the official manufacturer's lens. The only aftermarket 90s lens company I can tell didn't cheapen out was Tokina.
The APO Lenses are really damn good. A little worse than the Sony G Master A Mount stuff, but a fraction of the price. The newer Sony stuff did gain SSM though which is better than the 90s AF Motors. The 100-300mm APO and 100-400mm were supposedly Tokina designs. The fixed aperture zooms were by Leica x Minolta.
I'll fully consneed its not Canon/Nikon quality, but its not that far back. Definitely better than Pentax and good enough that Sony straight up relabeled their stuff (remember, Sony bought the Alpha line in 2006...that's 10 years of development where they also brought in Zeiss for their lenses)
