I used to do something similar to that. Almost like painting with light. I don't think the particular photo you posted is very moving, but the potential is there and once you refine it, I think you can make some cool shit.

I went really hard on the noise reduction so I'll give you that. RawTherapee doesn't display the full effects of the noise reduction unless you zoom in extremely far.

The RAWs are definitely in focus though. Most of those were taken with a Canon 85mm 1.8.

Why would you need such heavy noise reduction for broad daylight? All of these pictures have the same weird smeary artifacts as a 2013 cell phone. You may as well use a iPhone 6 for this level of fidelity.

Look dude, the whole point is you’re making your pics look really weird in post for some reason. I’m just asking why you would need image ruining levels of noise reduction for shots that could easily be taken at base ISO. You at the very least have a decent lens, idk why you’re doing that is all.

You should learn the ins and outs of your camera as well as possible, but aperture priority and f8 will work 90% of the time. Have fun, snapshotting with your first camera rules, wish I could do that again.

Are using some kind of filter or noise reduction? It looks like some kind of blooming around highlights like the lettering on his shirt, I can’t tell if it’s artifacts or just some weirdness caused by all of the reflective materials used.

I appreciate the response, but you really shouldn't need noise reduction at all, you have a good lens on a full frame camera shooting in daylight. Most cameras dont need noise reduction until ISO 1600-6400, there really shouldn't be much noise to reduce in these shots unless your shooting settings are completely messed up.

I like the photos you've posted, but I'm inclined to agree with these other posters, you've boosted the deep shadows well into the midtones, it looks completely overcooked and weird. Its a night scene with no deep blacks or really any shadows at all. I think youve got a lot of really well framed shots from this event but id revisit the editing. These pictures want to be dark and contrasty imo.

The subject is good but it is not isolated.
Crop out the street lights and try to expose the church as much as possible.
Kind of like this. You'll get more out of it if you shot in RAW.
