and do you feel alright if you ask for a portrait? It would have to be an extremely moving situation for me to candidly take a photo of a homeless person. Often times If I'm asked for change or someone starts a conversation I'll ask for a portrait at the end of it and it always works out well. If they're not interested they'll say so, but most of the time they're happy for the conversation and to be captured by the memory of the photo they say yes.
