I'm just starting to climb the slope after reading some photographic/image aesthetic books (Barthes and Deleuze) that made me understand that the so called "art photographers" just make pretend and don't understand photography much more than you and I do , they just snap a lot. Nobody really understands what makes a picture good and to sell your photography to people or gallery you just have to know how to speak and sell your shit , it doesn't even have to be technically good.
The best thing you can do is go to photography events or gallery and speak to people that made and see for yourself that they are not that much smarter or have tremendous technic , they just have been shooting for 40 years and went through a very long try/fail/adjust process.
Photography is an old men sport , if you want to go faster , learn to speak and lie because everybody does it. Or do it like me and call them out on it and laugh when they can't answer because they didn't read anything.
