Can a film roll being "old" cause photos to be under-exposed?
I got an F100 and a box of various camera accessories at a yard sale, including a couple of rolls of film. I shot one of them and had it developed at a lab with the request that they scan the negatives and put them on a CD. When I picked it up today they had just developed the film and not scanned them because it "wasn't worth it", with all of them apparently being under-exposed. I knew it was a possibility that the entire roll would be double exposed because the guy I got the stuff from didn't know himself, so I was fine with it being a sort of "test roll". However, I was very confident I'd properly exposed each and every shot I took, with the ISO being constant at 400 corresponding to the film, and using the meter very carefully each time.
I put the film over my phone displaying a bright white picture and took a picture using my macro lens. Here's an unedited example.
