Unless the shade of the object you’re spot metering for matches 18% grey, you are never going to get the exposure right unless you faff with different compensations. And even if you were some savant who can see the world in greyscale and instantly determine if a surface is in zone V, what if there are no such objects in the scene? An incident meter only makes sense for most people.
