I think this angle is a bit better but not as good optically, I took it the day before with a different lens. That's why the pine cone isn't there too, the first photo was close to 1:1 magnification so it's actually a really small cone but makes the fungus look larger.
As for the white balance, it probably looks strange as I used a ring light on that shot. It's accurate to how it looked in real life but doesn't look as natural as sun light I guess.
You also replied to my butterfly shot, I too would've liked a better angle on that but I was blocked by a massive bush between me and the tree it was on and had to zoom right in at 500mm.
