If you are engaging in a long trip and need something to stay absolutely hot or cold, then a thermos container will absolutely not fail you. I had this in the winter and summer, and it has served me well. This is only if you are going outside for a long time though. It will keep your drink warm or cold for more than 12 hours. That's the maximum I've left this closed so that is what I can testify too, but it might sustain it for longer.
