I am looking at X-mount lenses for some sports & nature photography and i keep getting funneled to referrals of the Fujifilm XF 50-140 f2.8.

This fuckin thing is 2 grand.

Am i getting b8ed in to the cycle of photography elitists embedding this idea that the absolute highest end lens is the only true option? I'm looking for considerations for anything that may not require me to sell an organ.

if the differences aren't enough to sway you either way, just flip a coin. the output is pretty similar between them and tho i personally only have used the 1.4, i believe they are both great lenses

Yes all X-mount lenses can be used on all X-mount bodies. Only the X-100 line has a fixed 35mm equivalent.
