if you are planning on taking pictures of things and not people you'll probably want a good tripod around. a lot of the good light you see while camping is pretty dim. the number one rule of landscapes is: move around a LOT to try and find a good vantage point. if you're taking a picture of a place, try and think about what it would look like if you took it from a different spot. and get off the trails, every photograph from a hiking trail focuses on the trail more than the wilderness.
