The old EX version is a different optic, and it does vignette hard.
>>4354930It's great, you'll love it, pic related is this lense wide open on film. It does fall off quite heavily , but really it's not something that stands out when stopped down even a bit. All the way stopped down to f/11 or so it's only the last 2-3mm of the frame corners that look a bit smeary still. The hood does vignette though, you have to leave it off for full-frame.
These days this lense would be sold as a full frame optic for mirrorless with baked in distortion and vignette correction to fake it in the corners.
You certainly can't buy anything else that's nearly as wide, as fast or as sharp without quadrupliing your budget.
Perfect normal fast prime on a crop dslr as well.
