i started with a panasonic g85 and an olympus 75-300mm and imo it was definetly good enough, but i did eventually upgrade
m43 has lots of haters but cheap, light, supertelephoto is what its best at
most importaint thing is autofocus speed and lens range
you ideally want 600mm FF equiv. 500mm bare minimum
you can use teleconverters but it will reduce the quality
anything lower than 500mm and your only filling the space with big birds that are reasonably close
if its a tiny bird (alot are) you need the surrounding enviroment to look good
its like your taking a picture of a tree with a bird in it, rather than a bird in a tree
either that or just sit in a hide and wait for them to get close
