I know this is a meme and I was in high-school so my perception of the 2000s is totally warped by being indifferent to politics but how did Jeff Hardy reach such a high level of fame at his peak? It was like wrestling itself was lame but normal looking girls had Hardy Boyz pendants and every second guy could do his entrance dance.

I tried to think of someone who had a similar career to Jeff Hardy in wrestling and couldn't do it. The only far out comparison I can make is to Allen Iverson: undersized, fearless, not all that great on paper, threw himself down a flight of stairs at Shaq, a hero to black people, must watch TV when the narrative at the time was we miss Michael Jordan and Stone Cold. And, finally, both Hardy and Iverson secured their legacies by the skin of their nuts: Iverson barely making the finals in '01 after beating Vince Carter, taking a game from prime Shaq, Hardy keeping his addictions in check and winning the belt in '08.
