>>12707155I will say that as a kid, I readily accepted Bret as champ because he held the tag titles and the IC title already and I had no fucking clue who Pedro Morales was (first grand slam champion.) With the motley crew of people Bret had defended the IC against, it made sense that he was good enough to get the big one. Bret's mic skills didn't matter at the time because his gimmick was that he was really fucking good at wrestling and unless you were better, all of your words meant nothing.
