Yeah but you know the story behind that is almost unbelievable. Rock’s contract expired in 2004 and according to him nobody from the WWE called him, Vince didn’t reach out to negotiate a new one or anything (real Tony Khan shit). There was a big miscommunication that resulted in Rock not hearing from anybody after his contract expired so he figured it was the right time to go all in on his Hollywood career.

it should be a guy who has the most value and is a super experienced wrestler, Rock has the most power, but I would argue John Cena is more relevant in both areas, he wrestled for nearly 20 years while Rock had less than 10 and Cena is way more effective at killing guys in promos

Also neat tidbit from the reports covered in the video but early on Rock was asking for a match with Sting at Wrestlemania 21 which would have been fucking dimes.

The WWE was trying to kickstart WWE studios doing stuff like The Marine and See No Evil and might’ve expected Rock to help spearhead and launch the “WWE films” thing when Rock really wanted to do Hollywood.

Also another possible reason that the reason the WWE cold shoulder’d Rock during negotiations was to show Rock “we don’t need you” (05 was seeing a spike in rising stars like the emerging John Cena and Batista) and were fully expecting Rock to come crawling to them so they could lowball him. Which is fucked because he evidently actually wanted to sign with the company again.

It was a blessing in disguise for him because Vince was still too high off of beating WCW and started booking mudshow segments on RAW so much that SD became the #1 wrestling show.

He was also all in on Brock, who also ended up leaving a few years later. His final bet was on Cena, who never left, and this is why he was so hesitant on pushing other people.

Exactly. Most normal people would rather see Austin vs Brock, Goldberg, Cena, Reigns, Orton, or Rock again. Or almost anybody. Even LA Knight or AJ Styles. Punk isn't the WWE champion anymore there's no reason for the two to wrestle. They have nothing in common. Smarks only pushed Austin vs Punk because they wanted their own version of Rock vs Cena, and Punk was "their guy"

On top of it all Punk looks good awful these days and I doubt Austin particularly wants to be on a poster with the worst UFC fighter ever. Punk vs Austin is about as much of a dream match as Punk vs Rock, which wasn't a dream match at all

Best thing post-retirement/semi retired Rock ever did was go back to styling his character after what the character was before at his best. Coming out in the flashy versace outfits, vests, watched and jewelry and bringing back a little more of the attitude popped me so hard.

If we're talking about the kayfabe GOAT then Hogan has only ever lost clean to like eight people in his entire career, and even then he usually looked strong as fuck in defeat (like the kickout at 3 against Warrior for example). That's just an abolutely ridiculous resume.
