Jericho had a pretty good Champion Persona early in the company, Moxley was going for that genuine renegade thing
When the title changed hands that early on in the reign Jericho lost his main event legitimacy and Moxley lost his edge
Not to mention what covid did to the reign and everyone knew that Kenny was taking the title of him like 6 months before it happened like every AEW world title change

In WWE he had Roman and Seth to keep him in line, along with the fact that WWE is a real company with actual expectations for their employees. aew is a rich mark buying access to his heroes and cosplaying as Vince McMahon. Being a lazy, weak addict is who Dean has always been, it was just controlled in WWE but in aew, he can get away with whatever because Tony is useless so there's no reason for him not to be who he is.

Nothing is really wrong with him and he carried the company twice including once during the single worst and most uncertain year in wrestling history as one of the only three men carrying the entire industry along with Naito and Drew.
He’s an absolute workhorse and can work with a variety of styles with his own brawling or hardcore/deathmatch based style.
