>>6442768>COMBAT SYSTEMCombat against weaker opponents is an automatic win unless the players do something dumb.
Combat against an equal or higher-ranked opponent: we enter tactical mode. If you enter tactical mode, you may expect casualties or party death. Encounters are never balanced; the power of enemies is determined by plot.
You get one attack, one small action (e.g., drinking), and one move. Attacks are determined in order of posting. If you post first, you attack first.
For group fights: Each anon controls the actions of one character.
>STATSStrength: Melee attacks.
Intelligence: Magical attacks.
Agility: Defense and ranged attacks.
Armor: Protection from wounds (we roll Weapon Rank vs. Armor Rank).
Endurance: Surviving wounds if armor fails (we roll Weapon Rank vs. Endurance).
MP: All special abilities consume MP except passive abilities.
MP is regenerated each day after a full night of sleep.
>MELEE FIGHTSYou roll Strength against Defense. If the target fails their Defense roll, you roll Weapon against Armor. If the target fails their Armor roll, you wound them. If the target is wounded and fails their Endurance roll, they die.
>RANGED ATTACKSThere is no Defense against ranged attacks. You roll Agility against a neutral D value. Then you roll Armor and Endurance as for melee. There are penalties for distances over 20 meters and further penalties for 50 meters (taken from Monarch of Rape
>>6418754).
>SPELLSYou roll Intelligence against a neutral D value. All attack spells are lethal: there is no Armor or Endurance roll. If the spell allows for a save, you roll Intelligence against the save stat.
>UNTRAINED ATTACKSIf the character is not trained in martial arts, their attacks take a two-rank penalty.
>MODIFIERS & CRITSModifiers may be applied for significant terrain advantages, tactics, etc. Players must notify the QM when they think a modifier should be applied. If you target a specific body part, you may take penalties.
Critical success: The target dies immediately.
Critical failure: You may hurt yourself or suffer any penalty at the QM's discretion.
If the target's rank is 2 ranks lower than yours, all attacks are treated as critical successes.
