>QM Question: What is the longest you ever hope to reach for in terms of running your quest? Could you see yourself continually running something for years on end and still being as committed then as day one? Has there ever been an ideal number in your head you envisioned your quest reaching before it caps off at that point?
>Player Question: How buddy buddy do you prefer to get with your QM?
>General Question: What are your feelings about spending time and money on commissions for quests given the reality that at most you'd be doing it for five people at max?
>Lurker Question: There is no question. Vote.

https://sequoiacap.com/podcast/training-data-dean-leitersdorf/ >Dean Leitersdorf: So why is this actually interesting? (...)Imagine you’re looking at a mirror. And you have this magical mirror. You can talk to it, okay? You can tell it to do cool things. You can say, “Hey, I’m here, and here’s my hand and I want to hold a sword. Okay, can you give me a sword?” And then you look at yourself in the mirror and boom, there’s a sword in the mirror where your hand is. And you move your hand around and the sword moves. And you can be like, “No, no, no. Make the sword bigger or make it blue.” And it changes. And you can be like, “Okay, now turn me into Game of Thrones.” And everything around becomes Game of Thrones. And then you get a crown and everything, and you can be like, “I didn’t like my crown. Change it a bit.” And then you start jumping and you move around, and the mirror responds to that, okay? And that’s interesting. Now the reason that’s interesting is because it’s a completely different experience than anything we’ve had before on Earth. And it allows us to kind of channel our imagination through screens that we can see. It connects two things. It connects what we see in our minds and what we can see with our eyes. And so that’s where we’re going with this. How can we—in a sentence, how can GenAI really allow us to connect our imagination to what we see on our screens? And with that, we can take it into, really, worlds that we didn’t explore before. It can change everything from applications we can’t do today, all the way to how we even interact with computers or with hardware. pic related some stills from that Decart founder AWS keynote presentation; the bottom image illustrates his vision of the contribution to society from his AI company

But I recently read this RAND Corporation paper, this is either some bizarre attempt at erecting trade barriers against Chinese biopharma industries, or perhaps the weirdest ARG scaremongering ever written: have you heard about the MIRROR LIFE (noooo, aaargghh)
RAND: Policy Options to Prevent the Creation of Mirror Organisms, 2025 March
https://www.rand.org/pubs/perspectives/PEA3436-1.html Apparently you can synthesis chemical compounds with reversed chirality, enantiomers? eg lefthand compounds instead of righthand compounds (so instead of say an organic COOH molecule, you make a reversed HOOC molecule?) DNA that twists left as you descend instead of normal spiral staircase helical righthanded descent, synthesise MIRROR LIFE biomolecules that evade natural predation and immune response mechanisms aarggh. I read this research, fortunately there does seem to be a bioethical regime to contain this hideous mutant science rampage, I was reassured by how one of the coauthors of this RAND policy paper has the surname Epstein

Can someone name a quest in a homebrew setting where the opening post linked to optional lore dumps? I've been doing some writing exercises and ended up busting out a decently interesting creation myth - but I think it'd be silly to just post a bunch of exposition and history right off the bat. Still, for curious players, I might link pastebins that contain quick retellings of prior historical periods, though still explain relevant lore as it comes into play across the game so that the pastebin reading is totally optional. I'm curious if anyone's done anything like this before, or played in a game like it. I like writing, and so enjoy putting together lengthier updates, but know it can be a barrier to access for some players that have limited free time (or attention spans, which in all fairness, sometimes gets in the way of ME engaging with cool quests and I need to circle back later to read all the way through bigger updates if I have things going on IRL). Makes me think the notion of supplying additional, optional reading would be discarded by most QMs.

Or is that just kind of unheard of?
I think it'd damage my story and gameflow to lay it all out directly in the thread directly, but wonder if there even be is an appetite for anons to get extra stuff like that.
There are a few quests around here I enjoy enough that, if the QM did something similar, I would find the time to read their world's bedrock history, at least. Like AdleQM's Shadow Rises setting, or the world we are glimpsing at in Heart of Sorcery, and also Zoral from Dark, which has a lot of interesting cultures/figures/locations I'd be interested to know more about. Maybe that's an unusual disposition though?
Or are you meaning to say it's a bad idea to even make that information available as an option, regardless of whether you avoid hefty exposition in the thread itself?
