>>6229269>>6229321>OSR "gauntlet" style play>requires very fast character generation, often pure random attribute / traits / equipment etc horde of level 0 henchmen type player characters>whoever makes it through high lethality dungeon run then persists into main story etcI know of this gauntlet style survival OSR game Reptoid, I have never run it myself and so do not have any experience with it. I was actually thinking about this because I read a very intriguing rpg setting recently called DEATHMATCH ISLAND it is inspired by PUBG Battle Royale (100 competitors dropped on island etc) and also a bit of Lost the tv series and the Remedy CONTROL videogame / SCP etc.
A setting which I thought about recently, because my last game was pseudo California lol, I thought a bit about making an ULTRA BRITISH setting it would be like Enid Blyton lol
>>6226068imagine some school trip gone wrong stranded on an island etc. it could be like a SERE scenario (survival escape rescue evasion) but you could combine this with some uncanny FOLK HORROR not just Wicker Man, maybe those "Scarfolk" unnerving fake vintage book covers retro public service broadcasting announcements (can google these) it might be set in the 1950s, 60s or 70s Cold War etc. (very underused historical era for rpgs). I remember attending a school trip to Bude as a child, doing windsurfing kayaking archery etc. it was a lovely and pleasant week-long excursion. Many years later I learnt, Bude is a major military listening installation (oh my god, the SPIES) I had no idea of this at all as a child
