>>6039742A voice calls out from somewhere behind you:
“Hail, Leman Russ, Lord of Fenris!”
The Space Wolves to a man immediately fall to their knee, and you hope you follow quickly enough to pass unnoticed.
“Hail, Leman Russ, hail!”
Leman Russ stalks silently into the space, placing himself before the massive holotable at the centre of the room which roars to life at his touch. It displays a map of Tizca, showing the layout of the entire city, arrows pointing across different districts.
My sons. We must prepare for war.
There is a silence in the room. Even the Sons of Horus look like they are giving their full attention.
Jenetia Krole has refused to lend us her troops so long as Constantin Valdor remains with Magnus. I am hesitant to proceed without her against the sorcerers of the Thousand Sons, but there is only so long we may wait. Magnus must answer for what he has done. I am calling this meeting to hear your counsel, that we might determine how to proceed.
The room is still silent. The only sound is the flickering of the torches, and the shifting of the human commanders in their armour.
I am in half a mind to demand the surrender of the Thousand Sons on an open channel. I have no illusions that any fight against them will inflict significant casualties on ourselves, even with the flanking force on station over the ocean. There is a reason The Emperor outlawed their sorcerous practices.
One of the Sons of Horus steps forward. Overseer Kurn.
“It is obvious what must be done Lord Russ! We must reach Magnus at all costs. It is the Emperor’s will. We must act swiftly and decisively, overwhelm the Thousand Sons before they can react. They are not in a defensive posture yet, but every moment we wait wastes what time we have. But if you still wish to be cautious, I am willing to lead my own men to the city gates, to treat with their leaders. One way or another, you will have their answer!”
Russ nods seriously, taking in the advice, as a murmur goes up among the crowd. Once Overseer Kurn speaks, the others are more willing, and the tent soon clamours with their suggestions. Some of the Space Wolves advocate an immediate attack, others loudly declaring they do not need the “Silent Witches”. The Princeps-Maximus of the Legio Mortis even volunteers for the probing mission of Kurn’s, which seems to be gaining favour among those gathered. Others caution against attacking without the powers of the Silent Sisters, declaring going against trained psykers without protection tantamount to suicide. For his part, Fell-Handed remains quiet, preferring to listen to others and question their suggestions. But eventually, the conversation dies down, and Russ looks up.
Are there any others willing to speak?
>Speak up (write in)>Remain silent. You must not draw attention to yourself.
