>>6137319“Get the train moving!” You call out to the conductor on the other side of the door; she appears to be panicking, which isn’t exactly ideal, “Dammit, just go! And don’t wait for us!” You yell before grabbing Sally, throwing her outside the door, and following suit. The crew will just have to take care of themselves. The moment you were out the door, their lives were no longer in your hands. You’re an Inquisitor, not a hero; it would be an effort in futility to try and save everyone's lives with your powers. You’re just not that capable.
The moment you’re off the train, a bullet impacts Sally’s temple, sending her reeling back into you, “Ow, fuck, what the hell!?” She yells as you both stumble. Luckily, she’s pretty small compared to you, so she doesn’t stop you for long. Unluckily, she doesn’t make a good shield for you to use.
“It’s your own fault for not putting your armor up,” You state as you again throw her forward towards the back of a house. Then another shot is fired. It misses Sally but hits you right in the knee, sending you to the ground. You waste no time.
You push Sally towards a slightly closer house, and the shot misses both of you entirely. You hear the train start to power back on before you see it begin to move. One of the vehicle's windows explodes as the Sniper fires into it, and you hear a scream. You sigh, nothing for it now. The train is already moving, meaning you're on your own, which may complicate things since you don't know precisely where Johan's location is with your guides killed by the gunman. You'll have to find wherever his wife's clan is on your own. As you turn back to Sally, you see the last plates of her magical black armor segment in place, completely concealing her. Technically, it’s entirely unnecessary, but it should stop some of the concussive shock she suffers when she gets hit. “Oi, how come you don’t got armor?” She asks as you peek around the corner of the stone building and look for the Sniper.
She's right. It’s rare that you wear much beyond your tunic and trousers, maybe a few plates to cover your joints or chest if you’re feeling fancy, but never too much. “Don’t need it. Did you see which house the Sniper’s at?”
“Nah, just know he’s in the back. Maybe in one of the houses by the barn back there?”
Your head goes just a bit too far to try and find what she’s looking at, and a second later, it explodes.
“We’re going to run to that barn," You say with a point, "we’ll go house to house, crossing the main road each time,” You say.
“Won’t that let the cunt shoot at us?’
That’s the point, “That’s why you’re going first.”
