As what little light can be seen through the canopy of the tree gets darker- the party stumbles across something else in the heart of the old wood.
They hear a slight click, the drag of a stone on the soil, and then it stops as they come into sight. There, they see them. Small beings of the forest- the innocent and child-like Kodama.
"They aren't harmful..." Scrim blurts out, more out of surprise and concern then anything else. Gnomes are the closest race of all to these elder, mysterious beings. Some even believe that these creatures come from gnomes- gnomes who are unwanted or get truly and utterly lost in the forest will become one of these beings.
The child-like beings don't disappear or attack, simply watching. It seems in this part of the forest where their hold is strongest- they are bold. It is a sign that this part of the gravenwood, perhaps above all others, still retains that natural health and magic of the forest- uncorrupted by the darkness of this island.
