Ruby-chan has transformed to <span class="mu-i">compact full mode</span>, taking the shape of a large ring, so as to not attract unwanted attention. Meanwhile, you are working on something far more serious in your notebook: a haiku. The complexity of the task is giving you a headache. Normally, you'd be gossiping with your friends, but today, you have a nobler mission. "Erm... What a fascinating question, Illya-chan. I don't think those organizations exist in the real world, so I'll consider the question on a theorical level." She draws two symbols on the blackboard: a cross, and a pentagram. "Historically, the Catholic Church has hunted down heretics and witches. Although the Church has modernized a lot in the past decades, their beliefs, which derive from their Holy Scripture, haven't changed. Thus, if there was a Mage's Association, without a doubt, they would oppose each other."
Interesting. This is something you had never considered, although intuitively, you've used a different identity to interact with each organization. "And why do they hunt heretics?"
"This is part of their fundamental ethos. The practice of magic is reserved to God and to Saints who channel God's powers. If a Mage's Association existed, they would hold tremendous power which represents a threat to regular humans and democratically-elected governments. Although it's a foreign organization, I would personally side with the Holy Church on this topic."
