"Thank you, mister John!" Shizuku bows a few times in a row, then looks at her mother for approval. Risae giver her an almost imperceptible nod at her daughter.
"Lord Doe." Ai said, with a small tremble in her voice. "I used to believe that this ailment would've lasted me for my whole life, and the life of my children, and their children after that. But now, because of your generosity, I can finally live free from this curse."
"John," Eisho finished "You've always done good for us from the moment we first met you. You can always count on us to have your back, no matter what."
"Hey, we're family." You allowed yourself to give them a warm smile. "It's the least I can do."
Your words act as a bell, announcing that everyone could be at ease. Ryko remained insistent on getting you to look at her origami collection, however both your vixen's calming words and the novelty of an elvish Saintess managed to distract her. Temporarily.
Aila was a near instant hit with the kits— even the baby was happy with how she acted. Herta was right about her motherly instincts, it seemed. Also, your elf was quick to join the "d'awwing" of your other wives when looking at whatever Ichirou did. These things, combined with Aila's innocence, helped dispel any distrust directed towards her person. Still it was surprising how quickly she'd become accepted.
Some tension did still linger in the air, though it was mostly directed towards Ryko. Eisho's daughter proved herself more than capable of being elusive, easily slipping away and hiding when she wanted— you realize her survival in the goblin cave was equal parts her proficiency at escaping as it was the Lucky Watch's enchantment.
Said small kitsune was the main reason your weren't able to stay for most of the chatting, which even Yumi had taken part in, while Aila seemed to be doing a good enough job at leaving a positive first impression. Ryko eventually was able to convince you and Ayane to come with you. Shizuku tailed close behind, seeking to play.
"Forgive her, Lord Doe." Ai said. "But please bear with Ryko, at least until she drinks the cure." She gives you an apologetic look as you're dragged away by the soft tailed child.
Ryko brought you to a few floors up, to a playroom where she showcased all the paper things she'd made. Shelves upon shelves were lined with origami pieces, all filled to the brim with paper cranes and foxes and other animals and people, all of varying quality and color. Ryko proudly boasted about making most of them, though Shizuku would also take credit for few on occasion.
