It had to be simply an artistic apology; a recognition of the original "owners" of this planet. Your people's planet. As much as you can "own" a planet anyway. It doesn't make sense any other way. But when you look at this scrawled illustration of a Zhark deep in this diving pool, looking at you with its ancestral hatred and feeling the sense of instinctual fear; you just have the strangest feeling that this wasn't really meant for the Jaxtians themselves to gawk at as some cultural artifact. Like a cathedral to a dead world...
At the very least, your Slicer restaurant is doing well. The Hegemony has no actual requirement for your business to turn a profit as long as its value of novelty, positive experiences, and culture is still up to the standards the AI network likes. But things have been busier. You think that appealing to the ego of that Garastra kid really helped spread the restaurant to the rest of the Hegemony at large. Despite the dietary differences; Jaxtians have been coming to try it out. You even included a vegetable cut as a novelty of traditional Swallian seaweed; a high fiber palette cleanser mostly only used for medical purposes or as bulk for Biocubes; still grown on the shallow aquifarms in the city's sunlit layers. But Vetuckers have actually taken a liking to it, coming to the restaurant as the most unlikely new guests. It's been nice to see so many people interested in your culture, but in a way, you kinda wish it was still mostly Swall in the restaurant. It felt like "your place". You wouldn't dare ever say it in public though. You're sure that's some kind of anti-social sentiment. You're a still a guest in this city after all...
