My sister bought my niece cheapass curtains and they're absolutely shit. Dust and flakes were everywhere from the "black out" material disintegrating. My nephew also had some too and those just flaked, instead of scattering plastic dust everywhere.
Wooden blinds are best, followed by vinyl blinds. Working storm shutters are great too, but costly.
Best curtains are photography backdrops. Light doesn't want to show through and you can order them in any pattern and color. Sizes can be custom, but depends on the vendor. Can be costly though. Like $200, but i used to get them for free because friends with photographers.
