I only started using glass files this year because they work quicker compared to 400grit sanding sticks and produce less dust. Their downside is that they polish the surface to a crazy mirror shine that I don't need, but since most of the nubs I clean with glass files are on the seams between parts or on wheel rims, who cares.
The lack of diversity of shapes in glass files is a legitimate issue, I would pay good money for a glass file that can get into tight spots.
