Though, since you said you watched Clone Wars the cartoon, (Genndy Wars) I think we got "some" reasons before the film but much more would of been helpful. Like you said, TCW fills in much needed gaps and it really brings the context more into focus. Like I said, I think you criticisms are fair on that

Droids get no love in the line and when they are released in the black series, more often than not, they are undersized and lackluster. It's a crime. We can't even get Dark Troopers, so a Droideka seems like a pipe dream. TC-14 might as well be the Moon. The Disney Elite Series doesn't count, IMO. Though, that GNK Power Droid is top tier.
