>>8083747>>8083778You also have to consider the scale these are made at. Hasbro makes millions of toys each year that are conveniently available on store shelves or major online shops. 3Ps make 1000 of a figure at best, often for 3 times the cost of official figures at the same scale available only at specialty shops with trademark dodging names. How much are these toys really taking away from actual Hasbro products? Even modern MPs that are a couple hundred dollars each still sell pretty well.
If Hasbro/Takara REALLY wanted to, they'd kill all 3Ps by not selling product to any stores that stock them since official stuff is far more profitable and available. But that would take lots of effort relative to how much money these 3ps actually take away. Bandai has shut down Gundam KOs in China because it actually had a feasible impact on sales of the relatively internationally niche brand, But Transformers doesn't have a remotely similar brand awareness issue. Plus it means Hasbro can take shortcuts on engineering and accessory count because other people will sell add-ons later. If anything, Hasbro actually has good reason to keep the unofficial market alive since it means hardcores can have an avenue to get what they want and Hasbro can see what can actually be sold. It's a mutually beneficial relationship that the multibillion dollar conglomerate can end whenever it stop helping them.
