It's meant to have a robot mode that is an indecipherable, cuboid mass with poor color blocking and minimal detail in order to maximize cartoon accuracy. No part of that makes a good toy. Couple it with a design philosophy that gives zero shits about alt modes, and you've got a perfect reciple to completely destroy everything inherently appealing about Transformers beyond the mindless consumption of plastic goods.
