They're so pricey that few people really fuck around with them and take goofy shots, their costumes often limit what the bodies can do/are fragile, and even the really pro-looking photos usually end up being so, so, very vanilla. They're either super close-up headshots because "look how fucking pretty my toy is" or very safe, boring action poses that basically look like they could be official promo shots for the toy.
Like this for example. It's very well done on paper, good focus, nice composition, nice lighting, well-merged with the look of the backdrop, and a very nice toy. This could almost be a frame from one of the movies at a glance. But where is the part where I'm supposed to care? This is dull as shit.
