I wasn't ham-handling it too, I think the paint just degraded after so many years, even on those which were unopened these whole time. Recently, it took off the 4th pink button counting from the top too. The skirt is too close to the flexible rubber piece. If you have a thing for small details, you have to watch out on this part.
