This MOC is an enhanced version of the classic 'Castle' Lego set #375.
My intention with this model was to give the original a facelift and to add details and features to the interior courtyard - but not to go overboard with the changes so as to keep this still looking like the distinctive classic Lego 'yellow castle' that is so well known and loved.
Here's a summary of the changes I've made for this enhanced version:
- Added 1 brick height to the walls, and then again to the towers and gatehouse to give the model a more robust and fuller look
- Re-designed the drawbridge to suit the higher gatehouse and improve its design
- Added a working parts-built winch to the gatehouse
- Changed the wall & mid-tower openings to an arched design (versus square) to improve the look of the model
- Incorporated the main-tower window design into the windows either side of the gatehouse at the front, and for the windows either side of the gate at the rear of the model
- Included a plate-built set of gates for the rear of the model
- Included 2x Jousting-style parts-built horses (inspired by set #383 Knight's Joust)
- Several other changes to improve the walkways and wall build
- Added the following internal details (simple build style in keeping with the era of this set):
- Blacksmiths (inspired by set #6040 Blacksmiths Shop)
- Armor & Weapons stand (inspired by set #6041 Armor Shop)
- Food Bench & Stools
- Guard House (inspired by set #6035 Castle Guard)
- Throne, for the main-tower
