As for the printing, it seems like they have serious issues with it in general and therefore try to use stickers as much as possible.
It's especially notable with bright colors on dark bricks where the paint isn't thick enough and ends up looking faded.
Also, I got that set too when it was released and Rinzlers arm cracked from just being on display and Sam's right arm is pretty poorly molded, having a bit of flash on it (note: those figures with arm printing? They're Chinese made). If it wasn't for the fact that I bought it in a Lego store I'd probably would've considered this thing a bootleg.
