>>11396544I am probably the wrong guy to ask. I love the 3-1 too much to speak ill but I’ll try to give an honest impression.
That 6074 or the 6073 is probably my ideal vision of a castle too but the 31120 is probably the closest you’ll get for a reasonable price.
The lack of mini figures and internal details isn’t great in the 3-1 and I immediately swapped the pirate blacksmith out for a better one.
Otherwise… I have no complaints other than you’re gonna want two.
I’ve built three and still have one in the box.
My five year old plays with the standard model and it’s still mostly together after almost a year. It’s sturdy and lots of fun.
We’ve got the other two setup as the tower and castle but i used the extras from the tower to build another level on each. Eventually, when the kid is older, I’m planning a large medieval play table where we can play battles and develop the storyline more.
What’s the fun of Lego if you’re not going to play and pretend?
If the new 31168 horse knight castle is half as good as the 31120 black falcon castle I’ll probably end up getting a couple of copies.
So therein lies the rub. So in my brain I won’t buy the LKC for $400… but I’ll a couple of the new 3-1s for $120 each and I got four 3-1s (did not pay msrp on any of them most expensive was $85 least $35).
>$400-500 for a Lego set insane>$100 Lego set? I’ll take four. Why am I like this? I just get more value and fun out of the 3-1. It’s not a money issue it’s a “am I getting my moneys worth” issue.
That said scamazon still has it listed at $100 pick up a 3-1 while you can and if you don’t like how it looks (I love it) there’s literally hundreds of free instructions to moc it into something you love.
