Everything you criticize about western statues goes on in the east too, plus all the chibi and catgirl + maid designs.
Nevermind the fact that if they at least do an anime statue in a generic anime style, you can easily say "at least they tried", whereas with western stuff doing a realistic design needs to look almost identical to a realistic comic style or else it looks like a failure.
Simplistic styles are much more forgiving than realistic styles.
