Figured this board was as good for this sort of discussion but...Christmaschads, how long did you believe in Santa Claus? Were you crushed when you found out he wasn't real? Or did you just sort of shrug it off.
Anyway, I believed until I was 8 years old...I had my doubts but I really wanted a SNES and figured it was better to hedge my bets. I did get my SNES that year but my uncle got me a game (Bart's Nightmare) for it as well that same day. "How did my uncle know that Santa was getting me a SNES?" and that pretty much confirmed it. I remember tearfully confessing to my mom that I knew he wasn't real the following year and she said it was fine.
My sister on the other hand, believed until like the 5th grade. I never asked her why but I always suspected that she was just pretending because she thought once you blew the lid off Santa, that meant you didn't get presents anymore.
