This. Super7 is mostly okay to very bad. Wingnut, Muckman, and a couple others are the only gems. The whole line is kind of shockingly outdated and makes you wonder if Super7 really ever understood how to make an action figure. Worse still when you consider how much time has passed from wave 1 to 12.

I just saw how cheap BBTS is selling a bunch of these for...yeah, go to town. At fucking $11-$13 a pop? You're fine. The hips will probably be loose, especially on the larger figures, but you can load up pretty easily for prices that low. They're practically giving them away now.

yeah plus they can be tightened up

what can't easily be tightened is the inner torso joint, which is the real problem. But that's only on the turtles and metalhead. Slash and most other characters are totally fine in that regard.

Ah, so maybe the TOG was a trial run? I skipped the turtles themselves but I did buy the footclan aka bad guys and I thought they worked well with my origins collection. Between motu, TMNT, DC and the terribly over looked were superstars line I may need to just buy a share of mattel stock instead of the figures.

You mentioned collector focused lines and wwe and while I only have a couple the WWE elite stuff is really good and you could call it excellent for the $30-$40 they usually run for. You guys might want to check out the wacky ass artist collaboration figures they done, it's uhm, it's unique I guess. I'd rather have a fan designed line than an artist line but thatd likely suck too.

Best case scenario is that Playmates works out a deal with Paramount that would allow Mattel to claim the master toyline license to make any modern/new Turtles figures but Playmates would still be able to sell their classic re-releases.

Likely this. It's not like how Kenner got absorbed into Hasbro so now they can remake the Kenner designed figures. I would still prefer playmates retain the license for the vintage stuff and continue re-releasing them. Even if it's online only so as not to compete with Mattels toy section. Just cant make new TMNT figures of products.

They're going to have a hard time arguing it, when the designs have appeared in other media and been made by Super7 and Loyal Subjects, and also by Mondo among orhers. Brian Flynn said that they had that loophole when Playmates still had the license. So if a particular design appeared in a game, or comic, or an advertisement, etc., it meant that they could argue that the design was based off the game Shredder's Revenge or somewhere else. Paramount will likely argue tooth an nail that it's their IP, and they own the designs, which is usually the case, but TMNT may be trickier regarding how the rights were handled.

Im talking about straight making vintage figures just as the way playmates made them. That's why I used the Kenner Hasbro comparison. Hasbro make Star wars figures in the same exact style as the original Kenner ones. Hasbro even make new SW characters in the same Kenner retro style. And the Ghostbusters retro remakes as well. They were designed by Kenner and Hasbro just replicated it and rereleased them in the retro card line, like the recent Fright Features figures. Playmates is likely trying to keep their vintage style of tmnt figures, vehicles, and playsets designs that they've made. Mattel would be free to make any of the vintage characters for their tmtn line but can't copy playmates style of figures unless it's a newer character playmante has never made a figure for, like Tempestra or Lord Dregg from the Red Sky seasons.

The argument is that they have decades of steel production moulds that they spent a lot of money on and become useless for them if they're not able to retain the license to produce them, and the lack of income from not being able to sell them is detrimental to their operations. Then you also go after the shareholders and imply that because your brand is so synonymous with the Ninja Turtles IP that it becomes a tricky legal loophole with certain characters designed and created by them that may put them in legal liability to use. And you imply that the fandom may turn against buying products from a new manufacturer because they're so used to Playmates making the toys thay they might find the Mattel figures unappealing. There's plenty of legal implications they can bring to court to at the very least convince the judge to move the two companies to arbitration, and my thought was what I was saying I feel would be the best outcome of that.

Punk Donnie is also popping up at ROSS. At this point I might as well wait it out and see if the vaction Turtles get the single ROSS treatment. They haven't moved at the target that stocked them. Surprisingly the Stan TMNT are hanging on. Only Usagi was the quick sell out.

I tried getting the remastered rocksteady off of amazon this morning since it said it was available again for the first time since i found out about the set last saturday, but it wouldnt let me order it before it sold out again. I had such a freak out over it i wrote playmates toys a hate mail letter over it and here it is

Playmates toys deserves to rot in bankruptcy for all of this. Fuck you all.

I am so fucking angry i cant get rocksteady in yet but ive been mad at playmates toys for years so it was just a entire deluge of years of pent up bile against them i siphoned into that email.

I think it was both in part amazon and playmates fault honestly, but i had alot of grievances against playmates toys for years i wanted to get out in that email. Also does anyone know a way to complain to amazon? I want to send them something similar next over the remastered rocksteady and raph two pack and its increasingly infuriating unavailability.

I was born in '85 and I don't think I was THREE when I got them, I think the show had been on for like a year (keeping in mind the '87 label is just the PILOT, the show started proper in '88, right?), the toyline had been out for like a year, I could still get SOME of the first waves, but I was also getting like Wacky Action turtles as some of my first turtles, so I think I was 4. and I had a lot of trouble getting weapons into hands, because I lacked the hand strength.

Origins isn't a collector's toy. It's a kid's toy with a collector's price. Only 50+ year old neckbeards are buying them, and they'll be retiring and selling off their collections soon.

Origins has no future, which is why Mattel is attempting to reboot the franchise with the new movie and Core line.

I don't have the Origins one yet, so I'm guessing it has roughly the same build as the rest of the line, just on the larger torso.
They both look really nice, so it's all down to what you want from them. If you like the Origins line and build, get that one. If you want a 6.5" figure with more modern articulation like ball jointed torso, double knees and elbow, and butterfly shoulder (his robot arm lacks a butterfly and double elbow) go for the Chronicles. I plan on getting both because he was one of my faves when I was a kid.
But if the Chronicles line is any indicator for what to expect from Mattel when they start making Turtles figures, it's a good sign.

He has a cool as fuck designed and i mostly prefer villain figures anyways and scratch is a bit gaping hole in my TMNT villains collection. It's one thing to have Baxter Stockman who has a fun body-horror aspect to him, a lot of the old guys had that. But these looked silly and cartoonish. Clearly a different group. and considering their themes started going equally cartoony (haha, fireman dalmatian.. haha basketball giraffe) instead of actually cool violent mutants.. eh..
I like Walkabout. a lot. But that era had a lot of losers.

Oh totally, they should have released more of him. Short packing certain characters is beyond fucking stupid especially because alot of times the figures i desire the most end up being the figures getting short packed cuz i really dig the weird monsters or super villain characters and the heroic main characters almost always get packed into cases in way more units then the cooler villains. Playmates is fucking retarded, and i hope to fuck scratch does get reissued still before the year is out but im not holding my breath.

TMNT was on it's way out. I remember my friend was really into Calvin and Hobbes like me, so he wanted this psycho cat character. It was a combo of the two for us. I remember he watched this show MTV downtown or something, said guy in it was me, cause he was a toy collector. He had some, but random, he just liked certain characters. He'd get a captain america or a digimon. We both had Toy Story stuff too.

Missed the Amazon Target preorders for retail price. Put in a place holder at BBTS for Krang and Slash since it's a dollar cheaper than EE. If I find them in Target in July I'll just cancel the preorders. The rest I'll wait on Target circle deals and maybe even wait on clearance depending on what isn't moving. Also i wanted to ask something. Previously the amazon page had the "currently unavailable" text in red font but after they put more of the two pack up (and amazon wouldnt let my purchase it like the incompetent faggots they are) the "currently unavailable" text turned to grey.
