There were malls around me that in the late 90s had Software Etcs and B Daltons as separate stores. Maybe that's just how it was in some locations or something, but I never saw the two together.
I remember being pissed, because when Gamestop swallowed up all those smaller video game stores, that Software Etc was one of them, and even back then, some 20+ years ago people already hated Gamestop, and the store got worse when they merged.
So maybe they were both one entity even before that, or the separated at some point, or they just existed as separate locations in some areas, because we're talking a good 20~25 years ago, at minimum.
