To begin with, only the one guy with his small company which developed this concept made and sold the necessary plastic collars (and the kit with the dies for converting the .44 Magnum casings), you can't go out and buy these exact things anywhere, also the guy died many years ago and so did his company. You can reuse these things roughly ten times or so until they fall apart (even if there's like a split on one side, it'll continue working), but beyond that, they're expendable.
There's also the issue which haunted the .357 Maximum, and that is so called 'flame cutting', where the unusually high pressure will gradually start to cut into the top-strap of the revolver, something which people were terrified of, and caused them to drop .357 Maximum and .357-44 Bobcat Magnum like they were hot.
