So I think one of them should be bipedal from the start and the other quadrupedal. They might swap at the very end, but it's still important that they have radically different body shapes from each other.
Personally, I think Thorndle seems like the type to stay a quadruped through all its evolutions and end up with pic related or something similar. It's a bulky, likely slow, quadruped. Which means the grass croc should go with something completely different - bipedal from the start to the end and have a leaner, fast build. Though I still think the shapes of the head will still end up quite similar which might put people off.
