Because 90% of the people who complain about modern Pokemon don't actually care about it all that much. They saw some clips of Scarlet and Violet glitches, and then laughed at them and called Game Freak lazy and then never thought about Pokemon beyond that at all. They don't want it to be anything, their entire engagement with the franchise is playing the older games and then not actually thinking beyond "creature game uuuuuuuh". They have put zero thought into actual design elements.
So when something releases and it's "Pokemon but good!!!" it can literally just be yet another surival crafting game and they don't care, they'll play it for a month and then fall off it like they did with every other survival crafting game, claim it's "what Pokemon should be" while still not actually giving a shit.
The last 10% are people who want what current Pokemon is going for but have valid complaints and actually have thought about it, but that 90% are the people buying Palworld.
