It was pretty obvious when they first spouted the whole "we have to think about how this creature lives in the wild" and "we're picking monsters that work for this environment" that it was PR bullshit, but seeing the actual dex makes it clear. Chespin, torchic, and snivy would be good fits as native pokemon.
