Can it appeal to european or asian audiences who may not "get" American references, jokes, taste, etc. Does the rest of the world share our die-hard consumerist culture, especially when you mix it with something as silly as "pocket monsters?"
I suppose ti's something which will remain to be seen. Pokemon Red, Pokemon White, and Pokemon Blue launched not that long ago, so give it time. Especially when the western cartoon is officially launched in many territories, which could help make the games more popular.
