>>44656199I was in fourth grade when HGSS came out and I found out there would be a VGC Regional Championship in my state. I begged my parents to let me go to it, and our whole family drove out and went to the event. As a kid I thought I was hot shit because I was the only one in my class with Arceus and I could dab on anyone in the Poke-Walker battle area in Viridian City (no DSs in school so I never found out how good I was against the others for real). I didn't know anything about battling and went in with some sort of rain team (Jolteon, Kyogre, Rayquaza, Ludicolo, Dusknoir, Regigigas). I beat some other kid waiting outside for the event to start without too much difficulty so I thought I would sweep through. Nope! I got my ass handed to me in the first round. I don't remember much from the actual battle aside from the guy's Tyranitar which ripped my team apart. I was in tears afterwards, but I got over it quick enough to enjoy the rest of my time at the place. And I got a shiny Eevee just for participating.
